Cotton-O'Neil Digestive Health Center
Facilities and Services
The Cotton-O'Neil Endoscopy Center is a Medicare/JCAHO accredited, ambulatory Endoscopy Center. This facility is 12,000 square feet in size and offers a spacious reception area for patients and their families. There are four procedure rooms with state-of-the-art equipment. Patients are admitted to 1 of 15 rooms and are returned to the same room for the recovery period. These rooms were designed with patient comfort and privacy in mind. The rooms are separated by solid walls (not curtains). Patients are offered warm blankets and receive refreshments in the recovery period.
The Digestive Health Center provides the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. Other procedures provided in the endoscopy center include:
- Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy is used to visualize the small intestine. In addition to diagnosing occult small bowel disease, this technology is used to evaluate patients with gastrointestinal blood loss and negative endoscopic evaluations.
- Esophageal Motility Testing performed at Stormont-Vail, is used to evaluate the coordination of esophageal contractions and the strength, opening and closing of the lower esophageal sphincter. This testing is typically completed on patients with swallowing problems, or as a pre-operative test before acid reflux surgery.
- BRAVO Esophageal pH Testing is used to measure and record the pH level in your esophagus. It aids in determining if a patient has gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This test can also determine the effectiveness of medications or surgical treatment for GERD.
- Breath Testing is used to diagnose small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
The offices of the Cotton-O'Neil Clinic Division of Gastroenterology are located on the second floor. This 6,000 square foot space includes six physician offices, ten exam rooms, a spacious reception area, as well as administrative offices. All the physician offices and exam rooms have computer terminals that allow ready access to patients' medical records.
The staff of the Digestive Health Center understand the sensitive nature of gastrointestinal illness. We strive to address our patients' needs with compassion and concern for their privacy.
