More than ever patients are presenting with complex clinical challenges. Practitioners need to have the knowledge and clinical skills to care for patients with complications and crisis in pregnancy. This course is based on AWHONN's guidelines and evidence-based practice standards. Content will focus on physiology of the pregnant patient and appropriate nursing care for OB complications such as hypertension, diabetes and pulmonary disorders. Other topics include legal implications related to the OB nurse, domestic violence and substance abuse
in pregnancy. Choose to attend one or both sessions.

Understanding Capnography

July 15 -- 11 to 11:50 a.m. or 12:10 to 1 p.m.

Recent studies have advocated that capnography, a continuous technique that measures exhaled carbon dioxide, does in fact improve patient outcomes though the early recognition of hypoventilation, apnea, or airway obstruction, thus preventing hypoxic episodes. This presentation will provide an overview of capnography, waveform configurations and impact on patient care in a variety of clinical settings.

Basic Dysrhythmia

This two-day course focus is on the anatomy and physiology of the cardiac conduction system. Participants will be able to identify rate, waveforms, intervals, plus analyze and interpret basic cardiac rhythms including pace rhythms. Participants will be able to describe treatments, drug therapies and nursing interventions for selected dysrhythmias.
