Winter Healthy Times: Healthy Lifestyles
The Winter 2011-2012 issue of the Stormont-Vail HealthCare's community newsletter Healthy Times contains useful health information to "get you back to living." It also contains a calendar for health-related classes and programs for December, January and February.
Stories include:
- "Portion distortion" may be happening at a dinner table near you. Find out how oversized servings of food can translate into expanding waistlines, and get tips on healthier eating habits.
- Three Cotton-O'Neil Clinic pediatric sub-specialists – Drs. Jakica Tancabelic, James Casey and Katarina Gambosova, now provide consults to the state's newborn screening program. Learn what benefits this program provides for all infants born in Kansas.
- Stormont-Vail has the only Institutional Review Board of its kind in Topeka. Hear from Jo-Ann Harris, M.D., chairman of the IRB and pediatric infectious disease specialist, what role the IRB plays in bringing clinical research trials to the community.
Healthy Times is distributed free to community members and is available by calling Health Connections at (785) 354-5225. Copies are also available at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.
