Please Help Us Meet Our Community's Health Needs
As Chief Medical Quality Officer of Stormont-Vail HealthCare, my job is to ensure we deliver timely and high-quality care to patients and families served by our network of facilities in Topeka and throughout northeast Kansas. An important component of our services is the Stormont-Vail Stroke Center, the region’s first Primary Stroke Center and one of only 600 in the nation. In July 2010, Stormont-Vail HealthCare earned the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Centers. This Certification confirms that our stroke care program follows national standards that can significantly improve patient outcomes.
Stroke is the nation’s third leading cause of death. Each year, about 700,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke. On average, someone suffers a stroke every 45 seconds, and someone dies of a stroke every 3.1 minutes. Stroke also is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability with about 4.7 million stroke survivors alive today. Stormont-Vail is committed to meeting the special needs of those in our community impacted by stroke.
The following reflects special requests from Stormont-Vail HealthCare leaders who serve stroke patients and promote stroke
awareness. Your contribution will help these dynamic caregivers
meet their patient-care goals. Simply click here and print, complete and mail the reply card. Please share this opportunity with others
who may also wish to lend their support.
