(Topeka, Kan., April 13, 2010) Stormont-Vail HealthCare and Cotton-O'Neil Clinic announce today that pediatric endocrinologist Katarina Gambosova, M.D., has joined the Cotton-O'Neil medical staff. Originally from Slovakia, Dr. Gambosova joins James Casey, M.D., at 823 Mulvane, in Topeka. With exclusion to the Kansas City area, these two sub-specialists are the only pediatric endocrinologists available to treat children diagnosed with endocrinology conditions in northeast Kansas.
Dr. Gambosova received her medical degree from Komensky, Bratislava, Slovakia, in 1999. She completed a Pediatric Residency at Regional Hospital, Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia, in 2002. After relocating to the U.S., she completed a Pediatric Residency program at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, in 2005. She then completed the clinical part of her Pediatric Endocrinology fellowship program at Yale University, New Haven, Conn., in 2007. She also completed two years of research and clinical training at Brown University, Providence, R.I., where she graduated in 2009.
Dr. Gambosova is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. She has clinical interests in obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome, diabetes, thyroid disease, growth and puberty. She is also interested in beta cell biology research and finding a cure for diabetes. Dr. Gambosova is fluent in Slovak and English languages and speaks passive German, Russian and Spanish.
