Stormont-Vail Library Wins HSLNKC Award
Stauffer Library named “Outstanding Health Sciences Library”

(Topeka, Kan., Jan. 21 , 2009) – The Stauffer Health Sciences Library of Stormont-Vail HealthCare received the award for “Outstanding Health Sciences Library” of 2008 from the Health Sciences Library Network of Kansas City, for providing valuable information services and resources to medical staff, nursing staff, allied health, patients and the general public.

The award was presented to Lenora Kinzie, medical librarian, at the fifth annual HSLNKC Awards and Recognition Ceremony held Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

The Library received praise for supporting evidence-passed practice and for supporting Stormont-Vail’s efforts in excellence in patient care and staff education. Dr. Kathleen Harr, Director of Baker School of Nursing, commended the library’s work. “Lenora is always willing to participate and support us whenever requested, serving on the faculty research committee and helping us to fulfill our educational mission.”

HSLNKC awards are given every January to libraries providing outstanding service to their institutions. Awards are presented in five categories: “Outstanding Health Science Library”, “Outstanding One-Person Health Science Library,” “Outstanding Academic Health Science Library,” “Outstanding International Outreach Efforts” and “Excellent Return on Investment in a Health Science Library.”
Other libraries receiving awards were The Linda Hall Library, Archie R. Dykes Library at KU Medical Center, The Drug Medical Library at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, and the Health Sciences Library at Olathe Medical Center.
