Stormont-Vail HealthCare Trauma Services Medical Director Receive Designation from the College of Osteopathic Surgeons

(Topeka, Kan., Dec. 13, 2010) – Mike McCann, D.O. has recently been designated as a Fellow of the College of Osteopathic Surgeons. To receive this designation, a doctor of osteopathic medicine must demonstrate their commitment to the practice of surgery, surgical teaching, authorship of professional papers, and participation in local, state and national organizations. Needless to say, recipients must also adhere to professional and ethical standards established by the profession.

Dr. McCann received his osteopathic medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, Calif., in 1999. He completed an internal medicine internship, followed by a residency in general surgery at Michigan State University, Genesys Regional Medical Center, Grand Blanc, Mich., in 2004. He completed a fellowship in Trauma at Henry Ford Health System, Hurley Medical Center, Flint, Mich., in 2005, and a surgical critical care fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Mich. in 2006.

Dr. McCann is the Medical Director of Trauma Services at Stormont-Vail HealthCare and has been a member of the general surgery team at Cotton-O'Neil Clinic since 2008.
