(Topeka, Kan., Sept. 3, 2009) -- Stormont-Vail HealthCare proudly welcomes Matthew Ricks, M.D., a dermatology sub-specialist to Cotton-O'Neil Clinic. He has joined Dr. Michael Giessel and Judy Dowd, physician assistant at the Cotton-O'Neil Dermatology clinic located at 6650 S.W. Mission Valley Dr. in southwest Topeka.
Dr. Ricks, a native Topekan and retired Colonel in the United States Air Force, received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Md., in 1988. He completed a transitional internship at Malcolm Grow United States Air Force Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base, Md., in 1989. Dr. Ricks served as a USAF flight surgeon for eight years before entering a residency in dermatology. He completed a residency in Dermatology at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, Wilford Hall USAF/Brooke Army Medical Centers, San Antonio, Texas, in 2000. Dr. Ricks, completed additional training through a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, S.C., in 2003.
Most recently, Dr. Ricks served as the Chief of Dermatologic Surgery, Dermatology Residency at the Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, San Antonio Military Medical Center, in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Ricks is board certified in dermatology.[TM2] He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery.
