(Topeka, Kan., Sept. 13, 2007) - Topeka Single Day Surgery, an outpatient surgical center that originally opened as a joint venture of Stormont-Vail HealthCare and the city’s largest physician group, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in September.
A community open house is planned from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at TSDS, 823 S.W. Mulvane, Suite 101. There will be refreshments and drawings for prizes.
Topeka Single Day Surgery did its first surgeries on Sept. 21, 1987. It was originally owned by S-V Enterprises and Internal Medicine, a Professional Association (IMPA). TSDS was the first major venture between the two entities. IMPA, which later because Cotton-O'Neil Clinic, then merged with Stormont-Vail. TSDS is now a subsidiary of Stormont-Vail HealthCare.
TSDS has occupied 9,600-square-feet in the Robert O'Neil Medical Building since it first opened. It is equipped and staffed to perform a number of outpatient surgeries that include, but are not limited to eye surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, ear, nose and throat, plastic, urology and general surgery.
TSDS specializes in non-emergency surgery and provides an atmosphere where the patient comes first. The relaxing environment allows staff to attend to the individual needs of the patient and their family.
TSDS has a staff of 25 employees, which includes full-time, part-time and PRN staff.
