Quality Approval from The Joint Commission

Safe, quality care is a top priority at Stormont-Vail. To help ensure we are providing the highest quality care possible, Stormont-Vail HealthCare is accredited by The Joint Commission.

The Joint Commission has been accrediting hospitals for more than 50 years. Its accreditation is a nationwide seal of approval that indicates a hospital meets high performance standards. In addition, accreditation helps hospitals improve performance, raise the level of patient care, and demonstrate accountability in the rapidly changing health care marketplace.

Beginning in January 2006, all regular accreditation surveys are conducted on an unannounced basis. The change to unannounced surveys enhances credibility and ensures an accurate reflection of the quality and safety of care at all times.

Out patient care staff works diligently to provide quality patient care. If you should have a concern about care you or a loved one has received, we want to know so that we can address the issue and take corrective action if needed.

Concerns related to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center can be communicated to the Stormont-Vail Patient Representative at 785-354-6277.

Concerns related to Cotton-O’Neil Clinics can be communicated to the Cotton-O’Neil Patient Representative at 785-354-9591 ext. 250.

Issues concerning safety and quality of care also can be reported to The Joint Commission by calling a toll-free hotline at 1-800-994-6610. The number is staffed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Joint Commission accreditation survey is part of Stormont-Vail HealthCare’s continued emphasis on quality assurance for patients and residents of northeast Kansas.
