Meet the Staff

Meet Dale G. Garrett, M.D., M.P.H., the medical director of Stormont-Vail WorkCare, which is a program specializing in occupational and environmental medicine.

A native of Kansas and raised on a ranch in Osage County, Dr. Garrett earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Kansas. Dr. Garrett has worked in the field of occupational and environmental medicine since 1993, including one year at a rehabilitation hospital and five and a half years at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Ky. Prior to joining Stormont-Vail HealthCare, Dr. Garrett was the medical director at BaptistWorx, a clinic specializing in the treatment of injured workers in Lexington, Ky. Client companies included UPS, Amazon.com, Federal Bureau of Investigation and other federal government agencies, Federal Express, Trane, Square D, school systems, agricultural entities, and the military including Army Reserves, Navy and Marines.

Along with a two-year general surgery residency at the University of Kentucky with emphasis on orthopedics, plastics, cardiothoracic, vascular, trauma and neurosurgery, Dr. Garrett completed a mini-residency in occupational medicine at the University of Cincinnati. In 2001, Dr. Garrett returned to the University of Kentucky to complete a master’s degree in public health and a residency/fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Garrett also has extensive experience in emergency medicine.

Dr. Garrett is a Certified Medical Review Officer. Other certifications he has attained include Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Public Health Association, American Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics, and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.


Carolyn Kennedy, R.N., B.S.N., is the clinical manager at WorkCare. She has been a nurse since 1973 and has 18 years experience in occupational health and case management. She is certified in audiometrics and spirometry, and is a certified breath alcohol technician. She
is certified by the federal government to do drug screen collections. She has instructed smoking cessation classes through the American Lung Association and has also taught First Aid and CPR classes through the Red Cross and is basic life support certified. Kennedy received her bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University and her R.N. at the Stormont-Vail School of Nursing.
