Laboratory Services

Our goal at Stormont-Vail HealthCare Laboratories is to provide accurate and timely test results to our clinicians in a cost effective manner while continually improving customer services and complying with all federal and state regulations.

The Department of Pathology at Stormont-Vail HealthCare has two major divisions – Clinical Laboratories and Anatomic Pathology. The Clinical Laboratories perform over 100,000 tests per month. Anatomic Pathology processes about 15,000 surgery and 20,000 cytology cases per year.

There are seven board certified pathologists in the Topeka Pathology Group with special expertise in each section of the Laboratory. Clinical laboratory testing is performed by Medical Technologists certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Histology by ASCP-certified Histotechnologists, and Cytology by ASCP-certified Cytotechnologists.
