Stormont Vail Health Supports Medicaid Expansion

As a population health organization, Stormont Vail Health is committed to caring for our community. And for more than 130 years, we’ve opened our doors to anyone who turns to us, regardless of income or status. We are neighbors helping neighbors, striving to treat everyone as we would our own family. It’s this dedication to service that makes us such big advocates for Medicaid expansion (KanCare).

Under Medicaid, millions of Americans, including low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities can receive affordable health coverage. Medicaid is funded jointly by states and the federal government. The proposed Kansas Senate Bill 252 will expand Medicaid, providing a measure of health insurance coverage for up to 150,000 Kansans not currently covered.

Recently announced by Governor Laura Kelly and Senator Jim Denning, Senate Bill 252 is a compromise plan that will necessitate that everyone and every health care organization – including Stormont Vail – will take part in Medicaid expansion. KanCare will ensure we can continue our mission of working together to improve the health of our community.

I encourage you to join me in contacting our State Representative and State Senator to urge them to support Senate Bill 252. Together, we can improve and empower the health and vitality of individuals and families in our community. Please act now!
