COVID-19 Vaccination Distribution Plan – Phase 2 Update

Today, Stormont Vail Health will begin inviting patients aged 65 and older to schedule their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Due to a limited amount of vaccine, it will take some time to provide the vaccine to everyone who is eligible. The most up to date vaccination information can be found through the resources listed below. These will be updated as more information becomes available.

Stormont Vail, under the direction of the Shawnee County Health Department, will be vaccinating patients aged 65 and over. Patients will be asked to provide identification when they arrive at the Stormont Vail Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic to verify that they meet the age requirement within Phase 2.

Appointments for first dose vaccines will begin Monday, Jan. 25. Those eligible must have a scheduled appointment with Stormont Vail to receive the vaccine. Eligible patients aged 65 and over who are were unable to secure an appointment in this first round of scheduling may be able to join the “End of Day Walk-Up Waiting Line” by arriving at the Stormont Vail Events Center no earlier than 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 26. While there is no guarantee that doses will be available, Stormont Vail anticipates being able to provide up to 10 additional COVID-19 vaccines due to unused doses at the end of the day.

The COVID-19 vaccine is provided to patients at no cost. An administration fee is billed to the patient’s insurance, and financial assistance is available for uninsured patients.

Face masks are required at the Stormont Vail Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic. Patients who need to request a mask accommodation will need to contact the Stormont Vail Patient Experience department by phone, (785) 354-6277 or email, PatientExperience@StormontVail.org.

Patients who have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should not attend their appointment. Please call the vaccine hotline to cancel your appointment. Symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath

  1. My wife (Linda) and I are confused about getting a covid shot. We complete the online survey, identifying Stormont-Vail as our care provider, but our doctor say that was not requesting an appointment. We are both in our 70s and want to know how we get an appointment. Information on the websites do not tell a person what they need to do.
