Infectious Disease (Pediatric and Adult)
Specialists in infectious disease for both pediatric patients and adults are available at the Cotton O’Neil Clinic. These sub-specialists are trained to diagnose and effectively treat medical infections and illnesses caused by bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic infections occurring:
- after exposure to an infectious disease or parasite. For example: Flu, Hepatitis, HIV or AIDS, MRSA or West Nile Virus.
- after an organ transplant or other surgical procedure.
- during the treatment of cancer.
Physicians provide care in the hospital as well as in outpatient clinics. The outpatient practice allows these sub-specialists to meet and evaluate patients referred to them by other physicians.
Travel and Tropical Medicine is also available through this practice. It involves both education and vaccinations for people traveling to foreign countries. It is also possible to evaluate and assist patients when they return from a foreign country if they have symptoms of an infection. Travel and Tropical Medicine is available at the infectious disease clinic located at 901 S.W. Garfield.
