Outpatient Palliative Care
Palliative care is a specialty in medicine that utilizes an interdisciplinary team to provide symptom management and support for patients and families, at any stage of a serious diagnosis.
The dedicated team at the Stormont-Vail Cancer Center includes doctors, nurses, social workers and spiritual care. The team is available to see patients weekly in the clinic, as needed, and strives to provide an extra layer of support for patients and families during their journey.
Outpatient palliative care can assist with:
- Pain and symptom control
- Psychosocial support
- Attention to spiritual issues
- Improved communication among patients, families and the provider team
The goal of the palliative care team is to make every day the best it can be for patients, by anticipating, preventing and treating symptoms.
