Inpatient. Child and Adolescent Care.
The Pediatric unit at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center provides medical intervention and nursing care for children needing special care, close observation, and monitoring. The unit is a 15-bed facility. By having the unit located near the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) it can expand its care to children who require intermediate care, but who do not need the constant care of the intensive care unit. The unit provides the highest level of care for pediatric patients from newborn to 14 years of age.
Visiting hours for parents and grandparents are unrestricted. To allow time for nursing procedures and patient rest, other visitors may spend time with the patient from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors are discouraged after 10 p.m. Overnight visitors are limited to parents or their designee (must be 18 years of age). Sibling visitors are discouraged. If they do visit, every child under the age of 16 will be given an illness screen before entering the patient’s room.
To help provide diversion and activities for young patients, the Pediatrics unit has toys for children and infants that are cleaned regularly. There is a Playstation video game in every room and games and DVDs are provided.
