I’m Brian Ruggle, a family physician at Cotton O’Neil Manhattan Clinic.
Why did you choose to work at Stormont Vail Health?
I chose Stormont Vail Cotton O’Neil because I looked at a few other options here in the area, and Cotton O’Neil Stormont Vail seemed like the best option. I really enjoy the nursing staff and the other doctors that I get to work with, so I’m glad I’m here.
Why did you choose to practice family medicine?
My clinical interests — because I’m in family medicine — are pretty broad. I like to take care of babies and newborns, to adults, to people who are elderly. I like to treat a lot of different conditions — whether it’s chronic diseases or acute care management. I don’t know that there’s necessarily one or two things that I enjoy, which is probably why I like family medicine: for the breadth of medicine that I get to practice.
Why should patients trust you with their care?
I enjoy what I do. I do care about people, patients. I want to see people be healthy, and improve their health, if it’s possible. I talk with people about diet and exercise a lot. But trying to answer questions to the best of my ability — and to do it in a conversational, down to earth, open, transparent way — is kind of how I practice.
