I’m Kim Davis, I work at the Carbondale Cotton O’Neil Clinic in family practice.
What is it that you enjoy most about working in Carbondale?
I am also a part of this community, so it’s just hometown; you know you’re taking care of your neighbors, neighbors’ family members. It’s just a different kind of setting in a small community. We tend to spend a little more time maybe because we have that special bond here in Carbondale.
What is your role as an APRN?
As an advanced practice RN here in Carbondale, my job is to take care of my own patients that I have as well as follow up with any of the other provider’s patients, as needed, so that everyone can be seen.
What types of conditions and illnesses do you treat in your office?
On a daily basis, we do lots of physicals, acute illnesses, upper respiratory. And on occasion, if someone has a laceration, we’ll do stitches. Basically, with family practice, you cover throughout the whole life-span of any kind of health care needs that you may need.
What is it that you enjoy about working in a family practice setting?
I like working in family practice because you get a variety, and you also get to see families and follow newborns. It’s nice to see families grow and follow them throughout their life cycle.
