Stormont Vail Health provides several parenting and childbirth preparation programs, including Birthplace tours, Breastfeeding Basics, and other classes to support breastfeeding mothers.

Pregnancy Classes

Breastfeeding Basics

This informal introduction to breastfeeding will provide pregnant women and their families an opportunity to learn all they need to know about breastfeeding before their baby is born.

Pumping

This online class provides basic information and suggestions about pumping your milk. It is designed for any mother who is going to express her milk. You may watch the class more than once.

Childbirth Preparation

Learn breathing and relaxation skills plus information is provided on other pain control measures. Included is information on late pregnancy, labor and birth, early parenting experience and a tour of Stormont Vail Birthplace.

Childbirth Preparation for Parents Having Cesarean Deliveries

Whether this is your first cesarean section or you are having a repeat cesarean section, your delivery is an event we would like to help you prepare for. You will find out what to expect from admission to dismissal.

Welcome Baby

This class is designed to provide up to date information about newborn care, safe sleep, car seat safety, calming a fussy baby, feedings, and more.

Baby Jubilee

Welcome Baby Jubilee, an event that showcases the Stormont Vail Birthplace, Breastfeeding Clinic and Neonatal Intensive Care.

 

Parenting Classes

Sibling Class
(for children 3-6 years old)

This class explores the very special roles of big brother and big sister. Instructors discuss what to expect after the baby comes and how to help the older child adjust to the new baby. Classes are divided by age group (3-6 years or 7 and older) to allow age appropriate instruction.

(for children 7 years and older)

This class explores the very special roles of big brother and big sister. Instructors discuss what to expect after the baby comes and how to help the older child adjust to the new baby. Classes are divided by age group (3-6 years or 7 and older) to allow age appropriate instruction.

Boy to Man

Boys experience puberty also and while usually starting later than girls, the time in a boys life between the ages of 10-13 is filled with many physical and emotional changes.

Girl to Woman

The time in a girls life between the ages of 8-12 is one of physical and emotional changes.

Sibling at Birth

This is an individually scheduled, one-on-one session with a sibling and support person to explain labor and delivery. We will discuss details of delivery to ensure the sibling is of a maturity level to appropriately deal with the experience. A class completion certificate is required to attend the delivery.
