My name is Dr. Floren Nicolae. My specialty is interventional pain management, and I work at Stormont Vail Pain Management Center.
I think that nowadays, compared to let’s say 20-25 years ago, we have many more options in terms of what we call interventional pain management, what I do in other words. And we can offer relief in most patients with spine pain; relief of a better quality than medications, which had been used a lot in the past. There are alternatives, in other words, there are superior alternatives at this point that work better and are able to give the patient a better quality of life and better social functioning, family functioning, functioning at work.
Most of my patients are in chronic pain. They have degenerative disease of the spine, and with such injections, which are mostly steroid injections, and some nerve oblations that I was mentioning, we are trying to improve their quality of life and their functional status and to decrease the need of pain medications.
I will explain to every patient their diagnosis as I understand it and offer them treatment options, and we will discuss together to see what’s best suited for them. I care a lot about patients in chronic pain and like to help them as much as I can. That’s what I have done all throughout my career.
