Congratulations to Brady Hoffman

Brady Hoffman, MHSA, RN, Director of Health Connections, was honored with the 2021 ACHE Early Career Healthcare Executive Regents Award for the Kansas Chapter (KACHE). He received the honor at the group’s recent spring conference in Manhattan. Because of COVID-19 precautions, the award could not be presented until this year.

Criteria for the award includes being an affiliate of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and demonstration of leadership ability, and innovative and creative management. Brady serves as KACHE secretary.

Stormont Vail was well represented at the spring conference. Brinton Baker, PA-C, Administrative Director of Surgical and Trauma Services, participated in a panel on “RN and Clinical Staff Retention and Turnover.”  Brandy Ficek, M.D., MBA, Medical Director, Palliative Medicine & Supportive Care, participated in a panel on “Ethical Challenges in Healthcare Leadership.”

Way to Go, Anthony Granado!

Anthony Granado, a team member in Perfusion, was honored recently as one of three people who were named Champions of Character. Anthony and the others were featured on a WIBW-TV segment for how they worked together in a life-saving effort of a woman who collapsed at a fitness facility. Anthony helped get an AED device ready to help the woman as the other two performed CPR. The woman has recovered from the incident.

Stormont Vail’s Manhattan Growth Featured

Stormont Vail Health’s growth in Manhattan was the subject of a recent story in TK Magazine. Keith Griffin, Systems Director, Facilities Management, shared insights in the article about progress at the Manhattan Medical Campus.

“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight: Nurse’ Week

Kate Tingley, RN, 7 North, tells what it is like to be a Stormont Vail nurse as we recognize all of our nurses during Nurses’ Week.  Kate will be on tonight’s “To Your Health” segment at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment will typically repeat at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and will be posted on wibw.com.

Discharge Lounge Flexes to Flex Lounge

To optimize our approach to patient care and to support our Emergency Department, we are developing a plan to transition the Discharge Lounge into a Flex Lounge. This will allow our ED night shift to move patients up to the Flex Lounge to wait for an admission bed, allowing our ED staff to care for the incoming ED patients and decrease diversion times. Depending on the flow, this unit can take appropriate ED admits and acute care discharges. Flex Lounge hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

We together,
Dr. Kenagy
