About
My name is Brad Poole. I’m an orthopedic surgeon at Stormont Vail Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. I’m a fellowship-trained, attending orthopedic surgeon here, and I’ve been here for 10 years.
Why did you choose to work at Stormont Vail Health?
Stormont really had a good feel in terms of how they generally take care of patients. I think they have a good overall network of physicians here, and I think it was a good support network that I wanted to be a part of.
What procedures do you specialize in?
The procedures that I specialize in … mostly, I’m a shoulder and a knee guy, so we tend to do a lot of minimally invasive surgery — arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, ligament reconstructions of the knee, meniscal injuries, cartilage injuries, cartilage restoration techniques — so, things that tend to not put big scars on people.
What conditions do you treat?
The medical conditions that I tend to focus on … mostly ligamentous or instability issues around the shoulder and the knee, so those are really my areas of primary focus.
How would your friends or spouse describe you?
I’ve often been described as an energetic guy, and I think most of the time, I take that as a compliment.
Why should patients trust you with their care?
I’d like to think that I’m a good communicator as a surgeon. I tend to listen to folks … I like to establish a good interpersonal relationship with the people we treat. So, I think that part is almost as important as what you do to somebody, technically.
