Stormont Vail Health Marks 12 Years as a Member of Mayo Clinic Care Network

For 12 years, Stormont Vail Health’s membership in the Mayo Clinic Care Network has connected its providers with Mayo Clinic knowledge, resources, and expertise, helping bring additional perspectives to patient care close to home. Stormont Vail remains an independently owned and operated health system that makes its own decisions based on the needs of the communities it serves.

One way that the clinical relationship with Mayo Clinic Care Network comes to life is through the eConsults service. When caring for a patient with a complex condition, a Stormont Vail provider can request an eConsult with a Mayo Clinic specialist on a diagnosis, treatment plan, or another clinical question. The Mayo Clinic specialist reviews relevant information and provides clinical input for the Stormont Vail provider to consider as part of the care.

Over the past 12 years, Stormont Vail providers have completed more than 3,600 eConsults, with recent consultations spanning specialties including endocrinology, neurology, oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics.

“By sharing Mayo Clinic knowledge and expertise with local healthcare organizations, the Mayo Clinic Care Network helps to solve complex medical challenges and advance patient care,” says Mark Larson, M.D., medical director, Mayo Clinic Platform.

Founded in 2011, the Mayo Clinic Care Network reached a 15-year milestone as a global community of more than 50 member organizations, representing 80 hospitals and nearly 20,000 physicians.
