Robert “Dean” Smith Endowed Technical Training Scholarship

The Robert “Dean” Smith Endowed Technical Training Scholarship was established in October 2016 to support students pursuing careers in the skilled trades.

Named in memory of Dean Smith, former Director of Design and Construction at Stormont Vail Health, the scholarship reflects his belief that technical professionals are essential to every successful project and community.

As a master plumber and licensed mechanical professional, Dean understood the value of hands-on training. This scholarship helps students enrolled in technical training programs prepare for careers in the trades.

Scholarship awards are a minimum of $500.

Scholarship Criteria

Applicants must:

Have completed at least one semester of technical training at an accredited Kansas school.
Be enrolled in a technical trade program, such as plumbing, drafting and design, construction, or advanced manufacturing.

Preference will be given to applicants who are relatives of Stormont Vail Health team members.
