Neurologist Muhammad Amin, M.D., joins Stormont Vail Health

Stormont Vail Health is proud to announce that Muhammad Amin, M.D., has joined our team to practice as a neurologist, located at Cotton O’Neil Neurology, 901 S.W. Garfield Ave., Topeka, Kan., 66604.

As a child, Dr. Amin’s mother had a chronic illness and he would accompany her to her medical appointments. These visits sparked his interest in becoming a physician. In the field of neurology, patients often have to manage their illnesses for a long period of time. Dr. Amin chose this as his specialty because of his passion for wanting to help patients manage these complex diagnoses.

“When patients come to me, they are often suffering from their condition and are looking for help on how to manage it,” said Dr. Amin. “I listen to my patients to understand what is happening. After making a diagnosis, I explain the diagnosis and discuss the treatment options to my patient, so they can decide what they want to do and have an active part in their care. The best part of my being a neurologist is the happiness I feel when my patients are recovering.”

Dr. Amin earned his medical degree in 1985 from the University of Karachi, Pakistan. In 1991, he completed an internship in internal medicine at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago, Ill. Following his internship, he completed a residency in neurology in 1994 at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1995, Dr. Amin completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology in 1995 from the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, Tucson, Ariz.
