Suicidal thoughts and feelings can be intense, but they are treatable. Asking for help is a courageous step. Our Behavioral Health team offers inpatient and outpatient care, therapy, and support services to help you feel heard, seen, and supported.
Know the Warning Signs
If someone you know shows these signs, check in and offer support:
- Talking about wanting to die or looking for methods
- Withdrawing from friends, family, or activities
- Giving away personal items or saying goodbye
- Increased use of alcohol or drugs
- Expressing feelings of hopelessness or being a burden
- Sudden mood changes, anger, or anxiety
Common Risk Factors
Suicide is complex and often linked to multiple factors, such as:
- Depression or other mental health conditions
- Previous suicide attempt(s)
- Substance misuse
- Family history of suicide, mental illness, or substance abuse
- Chronic pain or illness
- Traumatic brain injury
- History of abuse or trauma
- Major life changes or loss
- Access to lethal means (e.g., firearms, medications)
What to Do if You’re Worried About Someone’s Safety
- Ask Directly
“Are you thinking about suicide?” - Listen Without Judgment
Let them share their feelings. - Stay Connected
Help them find support and follow up. - Remove Dangers
Safely store or remove firearms, medications, or alcohol.
