September 2023 Person of the Moment

Keith Dabney, Environmental Service Tech, Awarded September Person of the Moment

Environmental Service Technicians quietly work behind the scenes to ensure safe, healthy, and clean environments around the clock. But as Keith Dabney demonstrated at the Topeka Campus Hospital, ESTs’ impact on patient experience goes beyond health and cleanliness.

Keith received a Person of the Moment nomination from a fellow team member after a patient’s daughter witnessed Keith’s extraordinary compassion for her father.

“Keith was outside the room when the patient’s daughter came to visit her father,” the nomination read. “The woman told Keith about her father, who has dementia and was fearful and upset. Keith entered the room, took the patient’s hand, and calmed him down. He said, ‘Hey now, it’s going to be okay. We’re here together. I got you.’”

Keith’s actions prove that any team member can touch lives and make a difference, regardless of their role. Keith, we thank you for everything you do and congratulations on earning this month’s Person of the Moment Award!
