I grew up in Texas but have lived in Topeka for six years. My cat and two dogs mean the world to me! After spending time with my high school athletic trainer, I realized I wanted to become one. I love that every day is unique in this job. I'm always on the move, making sure my student-athletes stay healthy.

Working at Topeka High School has been a wonderful experience. The Trojan community feels like a family, and I've felt right at home since I joined. I'm also lucky to have a great support system within the Athletics Department. By being part of this community, I've had the chance to share tips on staying healthy and staying active in positive ways.

I've always loved sports—both watching and playing them. Throughout my career as an athlete, I've faced my share of injuries, which led me to pursue a career in athletic training.

Combining my passion for helping others with my competitive spirit and love for sports makes this job a perfect match for me. Each day, I have the privilege of making a positive difference in someone's life, no matter how big or small that impact may be.

I've especially enjoyed getting to know the athletes at Topeka West on a personal level. By truly listening to them—not just their concerns—I've been able to understand more about their lives and what affects their overall physical and mental health.

As an ATC, my family and friends often come to me with health questions. I find it rewarding to give back to my community by sharing knowledge about preventing injuries, promoting good health habits, and offering practical advice for dealing with everyday aches and pains that can arise.

I first became interested in athletic training when I was in high school. I had a serious knee injury that required three surgeries from playing baseball, and the athletic trainer was the one who helped me out the most through my whole recovery process.

I love connecting with the athletes, being around sports, and having the chance to positively impact someone's life, particularly if they're going through a tough time.

Throughout my career, I've learned skills that have made me more patient and a better communicator, helping me handle challenging situations more readily. Right now, I'm also working towards my sports nutrition coach certification (CSNC) to deepen my knowledge in the field.

I wanted to become an athletic trainer in high school after breaking my leg during a football game. Going through rehab to get back to playing was challenging and rewarding. That experience inspired me to help other athletes recover and return to the sports they love.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my job is seeing athletes get back on the field after an injury. Sometimes, it feels like the effort goes unnoticed, but watching someone return to their passion makes the hard work worthwhile.

At Washburn Rural High School, I'm fortunate to work alongside dedicated athletes, supportive parents, and encouraging coaches who truly value what I do. Their appreciation is my favorite part of being at the school!

Growing up in Michigan, I spent a lot of time watching Michigan State football. They had a female head athletic trainer, which was uncommon at the time, that drew me to the profession. Being an athlete myself, I was always intrigued by the process of recovering from injury and returning to sports.

What I enjoy about my job and the school I work at is watching my athletes grow in their sports and as young adults. I see our positions at the schools as middlemen for healthcare. We have the opportunity to help our athletes and their families by offering support and connecting them to additional resources and care they might not have found on their own.
