Stormont Vail Health Recognized Among Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report

For the eighth consecutive year, Stormont Vail Health has been recognized among the best hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Stormont Vail is ranked second in Kansas and achieved the highest rating possible in four cardiac procedures or conditions: catheter percutaneous coronary intervention, Chest Pain-MI, left atrial appendage occlusion, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

“Achieving this ranking eight years running reinforces our team’s ongoing dedication to excellence,” said Dr. Robert Kenagy, Stormont Vail President and Chief Executive Officer. “As we continue growing throughout the state, this recognition demonstrates our commitment to delivering outstanding care in the communities we serve.”

Mayo Clinic, with whom Stormont Vail is affiliated through the Mayo Clinic Care Network, was ranked in the top 50 hospitals in 13 medical specialties and earned the highest high-performing rating for 20 of the 21 evaluated procedures and conditions on U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 Best Hospitals Honor Roll. Through membership with the Mayo Clinic Care Network, Mayo Clinic providers’ knowledge and expertise are extended to Stormont Vail providers and patients.

The U.S. News analysis of hospitals includes data from over 5,000 centers across multiple clinical specialties, procedures, and conditions. Scores are based on various patient outcomes and care-related factors, such as patient safety and nurse staffing. Hospitals are ranked nationally in specialties and regionally in states and major metro areas. U.S. News assigns a rating to hospitals in a handful of standard procedures and conditions.

According to U.S. News, the Best Regional Hospitals rankings were created to provide consumers who want to stay close to home with an overall assessment of their region’s hospitals across multiple areas of care. To be recognized regionally, a hospital must have been nationally ranked in one of the 12 specialties or received high-performing ratings in three or more of those specialties or the procedures and conditions.

Rankings and ratings should be seen as a starting point for patients when considering where to go for care. Individual diagnosis and personal priorities will dictate their personal best choice.
