Stormont Vail Hospital, located in the north-central part of Topeka, Kansas, is a 586-bed acute care center that provides inpatient and outpatient care, as well as a variety of community outreach services.
The main entrance is through the North Tower, at the intersection of S.W. 9th and Horne Streets, across from the visitor parking garage. The hospital has easy access to Interstate 75 from both the east and west.
The Stormont Vail Emergency & Trauma Center features the area’s only Level II Trauma Center, located just off S.W. 8th and Washburn Avenues. Certified by the American College of Surgeons, the highest distinction for trauma centers across the nation, the Trauma Center provides specialized care for severely injured patients.
The Stormont Vail Birthplace in Stormont Vail Hospital provides mothers and families with family-oriented, patient-focused birth care. Our home-like labor, delivery, and recovery suites provide a comfortable setting from labor to birth to recovery.
The Stormont Vail Breastfeeding Center provides mothers with instruction and supplies before birth, support while in they are in the hospital, and a complete follow-up once discharged to help families care for their newborns. The center also offers consultations and community education classes.
The Stormont Vail Laboratory provides accurate and timely test results to clinicians. Clinical laboratory testing is performed by medical technologists certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), histology by ASCP-certified histotechnologists, and cytology by ASCP-certified cytotechnologists.
Located in the southwest corner of the hospital, the center handles both inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures. The Surgery Center entrance is open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking is free in the Surgical Center parking garage, located at the corner of 10th and Garfield, and is only for patients having surgery.
