We Together: A Communication of Stormont Vail Health (May 26, 2022)

Dear Community Partners,

Shocked

Saddened

Numb

Children, Teachers, Dead

Community, undone

One poet,

A bright star, tweets

Schools scared to death.

The truth is,

one education under desks,

stooped low from bullets;

That plunge when we ask

Where,

our children shall live

& how

& if.

It takes a monster to kill children.

But to watch monsters kill children

again and again

and do nothing

isn’t just insanity – it’s inhumanity…

The truth is,

one nation under guns.

What might we be if only we tried.

What might we become if we only we’d listen.

-Amanda Gorman

Comfort those who grieve,

Thoughts and prayers, yes, yes, yes…and

What will you do? What will we do?

See something, say something.

Register and check?

Temper our right to bear?

Spare the lives of innocent school children? Teachers?

Can we be moved?

Here are today’s updates:

  • Congratulations, Wound Care Center!
  • “To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight: Organ Donation

Congratulations, Wound Care Center!

We are proud to announce that our Wound Care Center has earned a Center of Distinction recognition by Healogics. This is our fifth year in a row achieving this prestigious distinction!

In order to receive this recognition, our team demonstrated a solid and unwavering commitment to exceptional patient experiences throughout 2021. Last year, 245 providers referred patients to the Wound Care Center, 954 new patients were seen, and more than 6,000 wound assessments were performed. Despite all the challenges surrounding the pandemic, our Wound Care team remained committed to helping their patients heal.

Ahead of Wound Care Awareness month in June, it’s the perfect time to congratulate the Wound Care Center on this amazing accomplishment!

“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight: Organ Donation

After Eric Vincent was electrocuted as a volunteer firefighter, a donor match for a bone graft for his injured femur changed his life. Learn about Eric’s story on tonight’s “To Your Health” segment at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13.

Eric, a simulation tech at Stormont Vail, shares his journey to recovery as we focus on the importance of organ and tissue donation in the coming month with several awareness events: a Celebration of Life event June 17 in Pozez Education Center, and Walk with a Doc with a focus on organ donation June 18 at Washburn University.  The WIBW segment will typically repeat at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and be posted on wibw.com.

We together,
Dr. Kenagy
