Deangelo Ferguson, M.D., Joins Stormont Vail Health Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Deangelo Ferguson to the Stormont Vail Health Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team! He found his passion for medicine early through volunteering in his hometown hospital in The Bahamas. This experience led to a career dedicated to compassion, precision, and patient care.

“Plastic surgery isn’t just about procedures—it’s about understanding people and helping them heal, both physically and emotionally,” said Dr. Ferguson.

Dr. Ferguson looks forward to supporting his patients at Cotton O’Neil Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery-Asbury Drive.

August 2025 Person of the Moment: Brooke McDonell

While enjoying a day out with her children at the movie theater, Brooke found herself in a moment that called for quick thinking and courageous action. She didn’t hesitate when help was needed—and thanks to her, a life was potentially saved. We are incredibly proud to recognize Brooke as this month’s Person of the Moment.

Meet Mako: Precision Spine Surgery at Stormont Vail Hospital

Meet Mako—our new robotic spine surgery system that’s raising the bar for precision, outcomes, and recovery.

Kansas Hospital Association (KHA) Leadership Institute Graduates 31

The KHA Leadership Institute graduated its 23rd class of 31 students on Sept. 5, 2025, at the KHA Annual Convention and Trade Show in Wichita, Kansas. Students were nominated by their hospital’s CEO to be part of this select group. Congratulations to Kourtney Brown, Nurse Manager at our Flint Hills Campus, and Braden Shackelford, Administrative Director Primary Care and Medical Specialty, Behavioral Health for being a part of this program and representing the future leaders of Kansas hospitals!

BIG Hearts Tournament Raises $285,830 for Breast Health Innovation

The Stormont Vail Foundation’s 25th Annual BIG Hearts Tournament raised $285,830 to support advanced imaging technology at our Breast Imaging Center. This investment will help expand services and improve care for the more than 20,000 patients who rely on us each year for mammograms and breast health screenings.
