Dr. Dawn Peterson Joins Stormont Vail Health Express Care Team

Stormont Vail Health welcomes Dawn Peterson, M.D., a board‑certified family physician with more than 20 years of experience in primary and urgent care, to its Express Care team in Topeka.

Dr. Peterson earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Iowa, completed medical school at The University of Kansas School of Medicine, and finished her internship and residency in family medicine at Baptist Medical Center/Goppert Family Medicine. She joins Stormont Vail from HCA CareNow Urgent Care in Olathe.

Dr. Peterson emphasizes active listening and trust-building as the cornerstones of urgent care.

“One of the most important characteristics for urgent care physicians is active listening,” Dr. Peterson said. “Trust should be established from the onset of the visit—through eye contact, listening, and genuine concern. I also believe two minds are better than one: collaborating with peers helps us create better treatment plans grounded in diverse experience.”

Patients visiting Dr. Peterson can expect a physician who ensures they feel heard, addresses their concerns, and provides a clear treatment plan they feel confident in.
