We Celebrate Valory Palmer, Sunflower Award Winner

Extraordinary caregivers make a lasting difference—something Valory Palmer, patient care technician (PCT) on 7 West Post-Surgical at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, demonstrates daily. We’re proud to celebrate Valory for achieving the Sunflower Award for Extraordinary Nursing Support Staff for the kindness, patience, and positivity she provided during a patient’s challenging hospital stay.

Valory’s Sunflower Nomination

“I would like to recognize Valory for the exceptional compassion and kindness she has shown while caring for my mother during her stay at Stormont Vail Health. My mother’s care plan requires her to walk six times a day, which is not always easy for her. Valory consistently encourages her to complete her walks while demonstrating patience and understanding when it takes longer than usual or when she needs to stop and rest.

In addition, my mother has required frequent bathroom trips, which are particularly challenging given her PICC line with multiple infusions and a wound vac. Valory assists her with professionalism, skill, and a positive attitude, always greeting her with a smile and making a difficult task as easy and dignified as possible.

Our family is deeply grateful for the attentive, compassionate care Valory has provided. She has been a blessing to us during this hospitalization, and we believe she exemplifies the highest standard of nursing care at Stormont Vail.”
