Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka earned the 2026 Excellence in Organ and Tissue Donation Award from Midwest Transplant Network (MWTN) during the organization’s annual Excellence in Donation Awards Ceremony on April 21, 2026.

MTN recognized Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka as one of only six hospitals in Kansas and western Missouri to receive this award. Fewer than 5% of eligible hospitals across the region earned this distinction. MTN partners with more than 200 hospitals, making this recognition especially meaningful.

This award honors hospitals that demonstrate a strong commitment to organ, eye, and tissue donation through high donation authorization rates, effective collaboration, and meaningful support for donor families. It also recognizes teamwork across care teams and community partners who help raise awareness and educate others about the importance of donation.

Stormont Vail Health credits its caregivers and team members for approaching donation conversations with compassion and respect, supporting families during difficult moments, and helping extend the gift of life to others in need.
