Stormont Vail Health welcomes Dr. Christopher Koo, surgical intensivist, to Stormont Vail Hospital, 1500 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.

As a trauma and acute care surgery specialist, Dr. Koo cares for patients during some of their most critical and unexpected moments. He is committed to helping patients and families understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and plan of care through clear, honest communication.

“Patients and families are often meeting us on one of the hardest days of their lives,” said Dr. Koo. “My goal is to make sure they receive excellent care while understanding what’s happening and why. When people trust their care team and feel informed, they’re better able to navigate an otherwise uncertain situation.”

Originally from Hawaii, Dr. Koo completed his surgical residency at the University of Kansas and chose to continue his career in the Midwest. He believes effective patient care requires both clinical expertise and the ability to help patients and families make sense of complex medical situations.
