Christy Bullard, D.O., Joins Stormont Vail Health ICU

Stormont Vail Health welcomes Dr. Christy Bullard, a board-certified physician specializing in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. As a nocturnist intensivist, she oversees the care of critically ill patients in the Stormont Vail Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1500 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka.
Dr. Bullard’s interest in medicine sparked in middle school science class. She pursued business and served in the Navy Reserve but always felt called to healthcare. Eventually, she earned her D.O. and MBA from Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Bullard completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma. She then joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard and finished her Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Pennsylvania.
Drawing from her military background, Dr. Bullard applies the principles of structure, planning, and follow-through to enhance support, organization, care, and communication in the ICU.
For Dr. Bullard, an intensivist who recognizes the importance of night coverage, the new nocturnist critical care position at Stormont Vail Hospital presents an exciting opportunity. She is enthusiastic about collaborating with the team to define the role and explore how she can effectively meet the department’s needs moving forward.
“I want patients and their families to feel cared for, heard, and understood,” said Dr. Bullard. “That we can come together as a team making a decision on their health.”
