Behavioral Health

As the largest behavioral health provider in the Topeka region, we provide continued care, ranging from inpatient and outpatient treatments to children, teenagers, adults and senior patients. Whether it’s a short-term intervention or ongoing therapy, we’re committed to the long-term health of our patients.

The Behavioral Health care teams at Stormont Vail Health are strongly integrated with many other care areas including Primary Care, Endocrinology, the Cancer Center, Pediatrics, Women’s Health and the Heart Center.

Our Treatments & Services

  • Integrated Behavioral health services/care

We have designed psychiatrist consult services throughout our hospital system to support a variety of patient populations. The integrated team of psychiatrist, APRN’s, and Licensed Clinical Therapist provides stabilization and individualized treatment plans.
  • Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic

At the outpatient clinic, a team of experienced psychiatrists, advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), and clinically licensed therapists is available for evaluation and outpatient therapies.

For more information, please call (785) 270-4630

  • Intensive Outpatient Program

A licensed clinical therapist leads group therapy for participants. These meetings cover topics such as understanding behavioral patterns, managing negative emotions, and building tolerance for distress.

  • Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program

We’ve designed this care especially for children or teenagers (up to 17 years old) who are experiencing a psychiatric emergency. Stormont Vail Health specialists provide stabilization and individualized treatment plans. As a crucial component of the patient’s health, we count family participation as part of the treatment.

For more information, please call (785) 270-4646.

  • Adult Inpatient Program

Adults facing a psychiatric emergency can receive acute, short-term crisis stabilization with the Adult Inpatient Program. Limited to adult voluntary patients, the program involves individual, group, and family intervention, as well as medication.
