Stormont Vail Health Announces $1.5 Million Contribution to City of Emporia
Stormont Vail Health is proud to announce a $1.5 million charitable contribution to the City of Emporia, reinforcing the healthcare organization’s deep-rooted commitment to the community and a shared vision for a vibrant, healthy future.
This investment will support the City’s initiative to unify two beloved recreational facilities—the DeBauge Family Soccer Complex and the Jones Family Aquatic Center—located at 4201 and 4202 W. 18th Ave., respectively. Over the next 10 years, Stormont Vail’s contribution will help fund significant improvements to both sites, enhancing access to wellness, recreation, and community connection.
As part of the partnership, the combined facilities will be named Stormont Vail Health Sports Park, while the individual names of the DeBauge Family Soccer Complex and Jones Family Aquatic Center will remain unchanged. The Emporia City Commission will consider approval of the contract at its meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025.
“We believe strong communities are built through strong partnerships, and we’re excited to collaborate with the City of Emporia on a project that will benefit generations to come,” said Mark Slyter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stormont Vail. “Our support of the DeBauge Family Soccer Complex and Jones Family Aquatic Center reflects our dedication to the health and well-being of the Emporia community. We’re proud to invest in a space that fosters connection, activity, and community pride.”
“We’re grateful to Stormont Vail Health for investing in Emporia’s future,” said Emporia Mayor Erren Harter. “This support will help make the sports complex a place where families and the community can come together for years to come.”
