Stormont Vail Health Earns ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Stormont Vail Health is proud to announce that it earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. An “A” grade places Stormont Vail in the top 32% of hospitals nationwide.
“This ‘A’ grade demonstrates our unwavering commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence,” said Dr. Robert Kenagy, President and Chief Executive Officer at Stormont Vail. “It’s a direct result of the dedication our physicians, nurses, and care teams show every day in providing the highest quality care to our community.”
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Stormont Vail, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States.
“At Stormont Vail, safety is our top priority. This is a proud moment for our organization and reinforces the trust our community places in Stormont Vail,” said Dr. Kevin Dishman, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical and Quality Officer at Stormont Vail. “This top rating is the result of a strong culture of safety and collaboration across our organization and supports our vision of being a national leader in providing compassionate, high-quality care.”
