Stormont Vail Health Welcomes Laura Vanderheiden-Zahner, M.D., to Family Medicine Team

Stormont Vail Health is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Laura Vanderheiden-Zahner to its Family Medicine team. She is now accepting patients at Cotton O’Neil North Clinic, 4505 N.W. Fielding Rd., Topeka, 66618. To schedule an appointment, call (785) 270-0080.

Dr. Vanderheiden-Zahner provides comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages. Her compassionate, patient-centered approach focuses on building long-term relationships and supporting individuals through every stage of life.

“Compassion is at the heart of everything, especially in family medicine,” she said. “Building real connections and truly caring for patients is what matters most.”

In addition to her dedication to patients, Dr. Vanderheiden-Zahner is a strong advocate for team-based care. She collaborates closely with fellow providers to share best practices, bridge gaps between primary and specialty services, and enhance overall care delivery.

Dr. Vanderheiden-Zahner’s grandmothers inspired her passion for medicine. One grandmother’s experience with polio sparked her interest in how illness affects the human body and life. The other became the first in their family to enter the medical field when she became a nurse. Dr. Vanderheiden-Zahner earned her medical degree at The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita and completed her family medicine residency at Via Christi in Wichit
