We Achieve Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission

Stormont Vail Health has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

The certification recognizes Stormont Vail’s efforts to achieve integrated, coordinated, and patient-centered prenatal through postpartum care. The certification uses standards, guidelines, and The Joint Commission’s perinatal care measure set for managing and monitoring aspects of perinatal care that are critical to improving and maintaining the health of newborns and their mothers.

“Our commitment to achieving this certification is really our commitment to our patients, their families, and our community,” said Kim Dick, Perinatal Quality Program Manager. “We utilize The Joint Commission’s certification as a formalized way to hold ourselves accountable to and pledge the level of excellence we expect each patient in our Maternal Child service line to receive while they are in our care. It helps guide our practice to provide safe, quality care that improves outcomes and reduces the risk of complications of childbirth.”

Stormont Vail underwent an unannounced on-site review on Dec. 5-6, 2023. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards and conducted interviews.

Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, Executive Vice President of Accreditation and Certification Operations and Chief Nursing Officer, The Joint Commission, said “We commend Stormont Vail for using The Joint Commission certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and to strengthen its clinical program to drive safer, higher quality, and more compassionate care for individuals served.”

This advanced certification wouldn’t be possible without the diligence and efforts of our Maternal Child team. Thank you for continually going above and beyond to transform patient care, and congratulations!
