“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight – Dr. Randall Schumacher

Dr. Randall Schumacher, a Stormont Vail Health pediatrician, will share information about Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) on tonight’s WIBW-TV “To Your Health” segment. The segment will cover who is at risk as well as provide an understanding about the symptoms and treatments for this contagious virus that infects the respiratory tract. The segment airs at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment typically repeats at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and is posted on wibw.com.

Cancer Center Team Has Abstract Published

Congratulations to team members at the Cotton O’Neil Cancer Center for their abstract publication in the October 2024 issue of Medical Physics. Yun Wang, Ph.D., physicist at the cancer center, John  Ma, M.D., Ph.D., radiation oncologist,  Kirby Wittenbach, CMD,  and Mary Kay Jackson, CMD, created an abstract on “Analyzing the Quality of the SBRT Treatments.” Medical Physics is the international journal of medical physics research and practice. SBRT is stereotactic body radiation therapy, which is a type of radiation therapy that uses many beams of energy. The beams are targeted to focus on growth of cells or tumors. The team also had a poster presentation earlier this year on the same topic at the annual meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.

Baker SON Students Sponsor “Tree of Warmth”

The Student Senate at Baker School of Nursing is sponsoring a Tree of Warmth through the month of November. Donations of gently used coats and new scarves, hats, gloves and warm socks are being collected and will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club. Donations may be added to the tree located in the Baker School of Nursing, upper level of Pozez Education Center at the Topeka hospital. The tree is near the Clifton Conference Room.
