Stormont Vail Health Joins American Heart Association IMPLEMENT-HF™ initiative

Approximately 6 million Americans live with heart failure (HF), which ranks among the costliest health conditions to treat and takes a tremendous toll on patients’ quality of life and longevity, according to the American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to a world of longer, healthier lives for all.

To tackle this growing problem, Stormont Vail Health joined more than two dozen health care systems across the country in the American Heart Association’s IMPLEMENT-HF™ initiative, launched in 2020.

“Stormont Vail joined the American Heart Association’s call, demonstrating our commitment to quality heart failure care,” said Dennis Rausch, BSN, RN, Stormont Vail Cardiovascular Programs Manager. “This national initiative aims to create a health care ecosystem for heart failure that emphasizes implementation science and patient engagement.” Learn more at www.heart.org/implementhf.

Just Another Magnet Monday Podcast – Episode 9: Visibility with Leadership

Episode nine of Just Another Magnet Monday dives into the importance of visibility among leadership, how leadership impacts patient care, and the development of leadership skills. This episode comes during our ANCC Magnet site visit, with surveyors visiting our team and facilities through Wednesday.

Chief Nursing Officer Carol Perry, MollyPatt Eyestone from Marketing and Communications, and Josh Brewer, RN, talk about leadership going beyond a title and the importance of practicing those skills at every level to improve yourself and those around you. They also discuss characteristics of a leader, the benefits of mentorship, and the significance of speaking up as a leader and to your leaders to enact improvement.

After listening to this episode, talk to your teams about how leaders around you are visible and available and how you are engaged in our organization’s strategic plan.

You can listen to episode nine of Just Another Magnet Monday here on stormontvail.org, or through Apple. You can also listen while you’re on the go, on your personal device, through Spotify – just search “Just Another Magnet Monday.”

Celebrating Trauma Registry Professionals Day

Please join us in celebrating Trauma Registry Professionals Day this Wednesday, May 3. This day of recognition is the work of the American Trauma Society (ATS) and we would like to start by saying “Thank You!” to all Trauma Registrars whose work is vital to providing optimal care to injured patients and makes trauma performance improvement possible!

We hope that all of our Trauma Registrars know that they are deeply valued as part of the Stormont Vail family. Also, be looking out for our new T-shirt in the gift shop featuring our Emergency Department and Trauma team.

We together,
Dr. Kenagy
