2025 Longest Night of the Year Turns an Extra Hour into Extra Fun

When the clocks fell back on November 1, the Topeka and Flint Hills Campuses turned the time change into something special: our first-ever “Longest Night of the Year” celebration.

Organized by the Professional Governance Workplace Experience Council, the event transformed the extra hour between midnight and 2 a.m. into a night of connection and appreciation for team members working overnight.

Highlights

Midnight Cookout

Grills fired up at midnight as Nutritional Services served hot dogs and hamburgers. At the Flint Hills Campus, security officers stepped in as grill masters, adding a fun twist to the night.

“Floordash” Meal Delivery

Volunteers made sure no one missed out by delivering meals directly to units at both campuses and off-site locations like the Behavioral Health Center in Topeka.

Sweet Treats on Wheels

The new Mobile Munchies ice cream cart rolled through hallways, bringing smiles and sweet surprises to night-shift teams.

Special Giveaways

Custom stickers, pens, highlighters, candy, and a QR code for sharing ideas for next year’s celebration added an interactive touch.

Celebrating Team Spirit

Thanks to each volunteer and the support from Nutritional Services, nurse leaders, and the Workplace Experience Council, the event was a resounding success.

We’re already looking forward to making next year’s celebration even better!
