2025 Stormont Vail Health Trauma and Critical Care Symposium Focused on Mass Casualty Response

Stormont Vail Health will host its annual Trauma and Critical Care Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at the Pozez Education Center Auditorium in Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, 1500 S.W. 10th Ave., and Zoom.

Experts from Stormont Vail, Children’s Mercy, and Labette Health will explore each phase of trauma care, from field triage and emergency department response to ICU care, rehabilitation, and recovery.

This full-day event is designed for healthcare professionals across disciplines, including first responders, nurses, and providers, involved in trauma care and emergency response. It offers a unique, case-based learning experience that follows the care journey of three patients—a child, an adult, and an older adult—through a simulated mass casualty event.

Stormont Vail is committed to advancing trauma education and interprofessional collaboration to improve patient outcomes. The agenda includes sessions on pre-hospital triage, patient resuscitation, ICU management, and a firsthand account of the Joplin tornado response.
