Stormont Vail Health Receives 4-Star Hospital Rating from CMS

We’re proud to announce we have received a 4-Star Hospital rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 2025 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings.
This recognition reflects our teams continued commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate care to the communities we serve.
Our 4-star rating places us among the top-performing hospitals in Kansas and across the country, with only 26.5% of hospitals nationwide earning four stars in 2025.
Kansas Proclaims Malnutrition Awareness Week: Stormont Vail Health Leads Statewide Recognition

We’re excited to share that Governor Laura Kelly has officially proclaimed Sept. 8–12, 2025, as Malnutrition Awareness Week (MAW)—thanks to the advocacy work of the Stormont Vail Health Clinical Dietitians.
As a proud MAW Ambassador, Stormont Vail joined the Capitol signing on Aug. 27 to support statewide recognition and elevate awareness of how malnutrition impacts health outcomes in our communities.
Thank you to all the team members who helped bring attention to this important issue, which aims to raise awareness about the impact of malnutrition on patient outcomes and equip healthcare professionals with tools for early detection, prevention, and treatment.
Wireless Fetal Monitors Coming to Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus: New Technology Delivers the BEST Care & Comfort to Moms & Babies

We’re adding two Philips Avalon Wireless Fetal Monitors to our Flint Hills Campus in Junction City—delivering more comfort, mobility, and flexibility during childbirth.
These cable-free monitors allow moms to move freely while ensuring clinicians have the essential data they need. It’s a meaningful step in delivering care that’s both compassionate and cutting-edge.
“It’s a win for patient comfort, mobility, and care quality,” said Tracy Duran, Hospital Administrator at Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus. This exciting upgrade is possible thanks to the generous support of the Stormont Vail Foundation and R2 B4 Bramlage Family Foundation—helping us continue to deliver the BEST care for mothers and babies to the families we serve.
Annie Buckland featured on KMAN Radio

Annie Buckland, Trauma & Violence Prevention Coordinator, recently joined Within Reason with Mike Matson to discuss the impact of trauma care across Kansas. She shared how Stormont Vail’s trauma services and prevention efforts extend far beyond Topeka, supporting patients and providers throughout Kansas.
She also highlighted the importance of regional collaboration, rapid response systems, and community education in improving outcomes for trauma patients. Catch the whole conversation here or listen on KMAN, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, or Audible.
Thaina Dos Santos-Jensen Honored as KSNT ‘Everything Woman’

Thaina Dos Santos-Jensen, an acute care RN in our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) was recently featured on KSNT News as the ‘Everything Woman’ August honoree. Congrats, Thania!
