Stormont Vail Health to Reopen South Tower Entrances for Patient Convenience

Beginning Jan. 2, 2026, the South Tower entrance, Surgical Parking Garage entrance door, and Endoscopy/Pulmonary entrance at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to enhance patient experience and improve ease of access to services in the South Tower area. Outside of these hours, these entrances will be closed and employee badge access only.

The Main Entrance to the Topeka hospital at S.W. 9th and Garfield, adjacent to the main parking garage, remains open 24/7. The Emergency Department also remains open 24/7.

The changes to open entrances and continue robust security processes follow an extensive review on leading practices that balance safety, security, patient experience, and operational efficiencies. Previously, patients had to enter through the Main Entrance only, near the South Tower, or ED.

Parking Information for patients with appointments for South Tower services:

  • Surgical Patients: Park in the Surgical Parking Garage at S.W. 10th & Garfield; enter via South Tower or Garage entrance.
  • Endoscopy/Pulmonary Patients: Park in the surface lot at S.W. 10th & Washburn; enter through the South Tower southeast door.

Patients scheduled for procedures will receive detailed instructions through MyChart.
