Stormont Vail Health Expands Advanced Vascular Care with New Imaging Technology

Stormont Vail Health is adding technology that’s expected to improve outcomes during some of the most complex and time‑sensitive medical procedures performed at the hospital. The health system has installed a biplane angiography system in its Interventional Radiology suite, giving physicians the ability to see blood vessels from two angles at the same time during minimally invasive procedures.

For patients, that means providers can work with greater precision during treatments such as stroke intervention, trauma‑related vascular care, and other complex procedures, often without needing to reposition the patient or repeat imaging.

“When you’re treating high‑acuity cases, having clear, real‑time images is critical,” said Amber Judd, Director of Cardiac Procedures. “This technology gives our team more information right when they need it, helping them make decisions quickly and confidently.”

The new Siemens Healthineers ARTIS icono biplane system is designed to deliver detailed images while keeping radiation exposure as low as possible. In some cases, it can also reduce the amount of contrast dye needed during procedures, which can be especially helpful for patients with kidney concerns.

By expanding its Interventional Radiology capabilities, Stormont Vail continues to build on its role as a regional provider for advanced vascular care, bringing leading‑edge treatment closer to home for patients across northeast Kansas.
